Amphipod photographed by Steve Jones 23/02/2013
The native freshwater shrimp Gammurus lacustris or G.pulex. The specimen I photographed was about 3mm long. Not the best of pictures taken with artifical light & no flash, hopefully I will get some more in daylight. (Steve Jones)

Gall on willow photographed by Steve Jones 20/04/13
Lots of these galls on the willow (Salix) that we've been felling, after some research by Portia it's possible they are caused by Rabdophaga degeeri a small midge. Each gall contains multiple midge or parasitoid larvae or pupae. The adults emerge in the spring. (Gary Barlow)

Common Spangle Gall photographed by Adam Polednicek 28/12/2013 (5mm diameter)
I picked this up on the way back to our parking spot last Scrub Bash. Laura, your mention, that in close-up they can look quite colourful and intricate, gave me an idea for this focus stack. (Adam Polednicek)
Amazing photo! The hair and and rimless edge identify this as the Common Spangle Gall, caused by the larvae of a Gall Wasp Neuroterus quercusbaccarum (Laura Fox)
